NOVOGEN is leading an ambitious and innovative genetic selection approach, focused on performance, behavior, and adaptability.
As a pioneer in integrating behavioral traits (sociability, nesting behavior, robustness), NOVOGEN has developed innovative selection tools, starting with group cage systems and then moving to floor systems using RFID technology. This unique approach sustainably enhances performance across all farming systems.
In addition, NOVOGEN has implemented genomic selection across all its lines. This major advancement has increased selection accuracy, shortened genetic cycles, and accelerated progress.

The project
1997- 2007
Groupe Grimaud acquired its gene pool of layers in 1997 (Rhode Island, Leghorn, Sussex and New Hampshire) and dedicated the start of the 2000s to developing a genetic selection programme.

Novogen was born.

2009 - 2014
An avant-garde vision of advances in farming systems and the responsibilities of farmers instilled the idea that a new way of designing selection programmes is necessary.
2014 – NOVOGEN is the pioneer in developing a system of laying hen selection on floor system. This innovative system has opened a new path of genetic improvement with an in-depth knowledge of laying behaviour of animals. As a result, this has improved Novogen laying performance in all production systems.

With breeds matching the expectations, our teams welcomed clients from 2010. Novoponte began distributing products in France the same year.

2015 - 2020
2015 – Groupe Grimaud bought a stake in Verbeek, which became the partner of choice for distributing Novogen products.
NOVOGEN innovation focused on the laying selection using genomics for all its male lines, then female lines.
2017 – Novogen established its GP production in the USA and Brazil.The quality of performance of the products enabled Novogen’s distributors to develop market shares for both traditional battery cage markets and alternative systems. Novogen’s popularity extends beyond the borders of Europe. Novogen products are now distributed in more than 60 countries.
In 2019 – A new hatchery was acquired in France, enabling the Novogen team to meet the growing demand from its clients.
